WHAT WE DID

Project: "Asians & Pacific Islanders & the Civil War" Book

This is one of several books in a series that Graphic Works designed for the National Park Service and the Civil War Sesquicentennial. It focused specifically on the contributions of Pacific Islanders during our nation’s most divisive conflict. As much as we think of the U.S. as a melting pot for Europeans and Asians, few of us are aware of the close association America had with the Pacific Islands, like Hawaii, that dated to the early 19th century.

Each book Graphic Works designs for the N.P.S. is not a rubber stamp of previous projects. We review the archival source materials, and painstakingly search for the perfect historical photos to ensure that the stories are depicted in the most impactful way. Each publication has its own personality based strictly on the content we are entrusted with.
